Important Announcement for our Events and Room Reserve Customers

Dear Evanced Customers –

We recently discovered that the code for Events and Room Reserve has an error within in it that could allow for malicious access by hackers and/or impact software performance.

We’d like to make it clear that no customer or patron data has been compromised by this issue, however, we are taking measures to fix it immediately.

Due to the nature of this particular code issue and because of our strong commitment to both customer and patron privacy, we are requesting that ALL Evanced customers upgrade their Events and Room Reserve sites as soon as possible.

If your Events and/or Room Reserve sites are host on Evanced Servers and you were already on Version 7 or higher by January 1, 2012 then your site has been updated to the most current version (7.17) and that newest enhancement resolves the code issue.

If your sites are hosted by Evanced but are on a version older than 7 OR if your site is hosted by you on your own server, please contact us to arrange a specific upgrade day/time.

Your version information can be found by clicking on the “About” link located on the maintenance side of the products.

PLEASE NOTE: If an appointment for upgrade is not arranged by February 3rd, we will be automatically upgrading your site if it is hosted on our servers.

To view a full list of feature changes in Versions 7 and higher, please visit: http://kb.evanced.info/article.php?id=86

Contact us at support@evancedsolutions.com to arrange your upgrade day/time.  Please allow our support staff some time to respond to your inquiry. Your requests will be responded to in the order received. We appreciate your understanding and patience with us.

Thank you for being an Evanced customer -

Viral Marketing with Facebook and Events

That blue thumbs-up button from Facebook has become a part of our culture in many ways – and now can be a part of your Events calendar!  If you’d like to have a dynamic Facebook “like” button on your library program descriptions, you now can.

The Facebook functionality must be turned on by the Evanced Support staff.  You can contact them at support@evancedsolutions.com to request Facebook functionality in Events.

Here’s a screen shot from the Auburn Hills Public Library (Michigan):

And here’s a sample from our test Facebook page that demonstrates what it looks like on your patron’s Facebook page:

It’s a great way to build viral marketing for your library events and helps library users remember library events they are interested in!

Think your library is too small for Events? Think again…

We often talk with librarians at conferences who find out about our Events and Room Reserve products and immediately lament, “Oh, that won’t work for us!  We’re too small/budget-crunched/time-strapped/understaffed for that sort of software!“  But what many libraries don’t realize is that our products are scalable and can meet the needs of any size library.

The Blue Hill Public Library in Blue Hill, Maine, is a great example of a small public library using Events and Room Reserve to the max.  With a population of 2,500, you might say that the library could get by without an online software solution for events and rooms.  But the library serves as the heart of a bustling art community and is one of the most busy locations in town – online systems helped them make the best use of staff time while also allowing the community to easily interact with the library events calendar and room reservations.

Rich Boulet, Director at BHPL took the time to answer some questions about the library’s use of Events and Room Reserve.  You can read the interview by clicking the link below!

Thank you Rich!
