Important: Summer Reader 2011 Release Date Change

Dear Summer Reader Customers:

As we prepared to formally launch Summer Reader 2011 on March 1, we noticed an error within in the software. The issue is a significant one and if not fixed, will have long term impact on Summer Reader.

To ensure that Summer Reader meets the needs of your staff and patrons effectively, we are postponing the official release of Summer Reader until Friday, March 11. Our development, support and testing teams are working diligently to resolve the issue in a timely manner.

If you are a customer that scheduled an upgrade for your site between March 1 and March 10, your sites will be upgraded on March 11, 12, or 13. If you do not wish to upgrade that weekend and would like to reschedule for a later date, please contact Support at support@evancedsolutions.com or by calling 888-519-5770.

All state-wide Summer Reader customers (MA, NY, NJ, PA, AZ) will be upgraded on March 11, 12, and 13.

Auto Archiving: It’s A Good Idea…

Like most of our products, Room Reserve is predominately used by public libraries.  However, the colleges and universities that use Room Reserve constantly blow us away with the sheer volume of room reservations they handle on a daily basis.  It’s as if all those college kids need to study or something – hundreds and hundreds of study room requests!  Whoa!

When you’re handling all those requests, it’s hard to take the time to archive reservations, but we highly recommend that you take the time to do so.  It’s as easy as enabling the auto-archive feature in your system settings.  Grab a cup of coffee at some quiet morning hour, hunker down in your office, and do a massive bulk archive of all those old reservations.  Then set the auto archive feature and suddenly, life will be quite a bit easier!

Why?  You ask…

1) Your search results if you’re seeking a specific reservation will be much more brief
AND
2) Your system will become MUCH faster if you’ve had a ton of reservations just hanging out.  Much faster.  Faster than the cars leaving campus during Spring Break.   (Impressive, no?)
